The story takes place after the end of World War I. Alan (Domhnall Gleeson) completed his mission to defend his country and returned to a peaceful life. Alan hopes to start writing again and bring a force to this society with words, but he soon discovers that he seems to have lost the ability to write. At the same time, the terrible war has brought great trauma to Alan's mind, causing him to be tortured by stress disorder. In desperation, Alan moved his family to the countryside with his wife Daphne (Margot Robbie), hoping that the beautiful scenery there can heal his injured soul. His son Billy (Will Tilston) and his beloved teddy bear brought Alan infinite inspiration, so that he began to create the children's book "Winnie the Pooh".
