The famous manga "Dear Irene" by Hideki Arai will be adapted into a live-action movie, starring Akira Yasuda and Keisuke Yoshida. It is set against the backdrop of social issues such as the declining birthrate and aging population, and the employment of foreigners, and depicts the story of "love and desire" between the protagonist and a Filipino woman. It will be released in the fall of 2018.
