Plot:
In the middle of the 19th century, the Victorian British Empire was in the midst of the Industrial Revolution. Reason and progress seemed to override everything, marking the infinite possibilities of human civilization's progress. Just before the opening of the first World Expo, 13-year-old Ray Sting (voiced by Anne Suzuki) living in London suddenly received a mysterious power device called "Steam Ball" from his inventor grandfather (voiced by Katsuo Nakamura) from the United States. At the same time, the British intelligence organization and a dark organization called the O'Hara Foundation coveted the amazing power contained in the "Steam Ball". Ray was suddenly attacked by a group of unidentified people, and Ray had to take the metal ball and embark on the road of escape. In order to seek the truth, Ray came to the United States, and learned from his father Eddie (voiced by Masatane Tsukayama) that the "Steam Ball" was designed according to a new mechanical theory and could generate a huge epoch-making energy that was enough to supply the needs of the entire country. On the way, Lei met the beautiful rich girl Scarlett (voiced by Manami Konishi). She was spoiled since childhood, but she fell in love with Lei and voluntarily followed the lonely Lei on an adventure... Is the so-called science people's hope? Or will it destroy everything? The production of this film took a full 9 years and the total production cost was as high as 2.4 billion yen.
