Plot:
Psychologist Chris Kelvin (Donatas Banionis) visits his childhood home to meet former Solaris pilot Henry Burton (Vladislav Dvorzhetsky) before flying to Solaris. Burton warns Kelvin of strange things happening on Solaris, but the latter doesn't take it seriously. Before leaving, Kelvin burns his personal belongings in front of his father (Nikolai Grinko). After arriving at the space station near Solaris, Kelvin investigates the death of scientist Dr. Kibaryan (Sos Sargsyan), only to find that his wife Hallie (Natalya Bondarchuk), who had died many years ago, suddenly appears. Panicked Kelvin discussed with three other scientists on the space station how to deal with the strange things, only to find that everyone was deeply troubled by it and didn't know why... This film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival, and won the Jury Prize and the International Association of Film Critics Award at the same year.
