Du Mantang (played by He Bing), the alley housekeeper of "Kuangguzhu Hutong", is a law-abiding and good-natured person in the hutong, while Zhang Zezhong (played by Yu Qian), who lives next door, is a smooth talker who likes to take advantage of others. Although they are childhood friends, they have never gotten along because of their opposite personalities.
