Plot:
Undercover agent Jack Roenick (Ethan Hawke) blames himself for the death of his two partners during the mission, so he is transferred from his original position to serve as the chief of the 13th police station. Psychologist Alicos regularly counsels him, but Jack uses a cynical attitude to cover up his depression. On New Year's Eve, heavy snow fell suddenly. Only Jack, veteran police officer Jasper and secretary Alice were on duty at the 13th police station. The recently arrested gang leader Bishop (Laurence Fishburne) and three other criminals were on their way to be escorted. Due to the heavy snow blocking the road, the escort car turned into the 13th police station for a rest, and Alicos had to stay at the police station. Two escort police officers joined a small party to celebrate the New Year. Suddenly, the situation took a turn for the worse. The escort police officer was shot and killed. Dozens of armed personnel surrounded the 13th police station and cut off Jack and others from the outside world. Jack searched the intruder for his police ID and found that the other party was a long-term police scum who had cooperated with Bishop. Now, in order to prevent the matter from being exposed and wanting to kill and silence him, Jack had to rely on the power of four prisoners to fight against the fully armed police scum. This film is a remake of the 1976 film of the same name directed by Carpenter and won the 2005 Canadian Directors Guild Best Sound Editing Award.
