Plot:
Russian film master Alexander Sokolov has been preparing for his new work "The Occupied Louvre" since he won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival in 2011 with "Faust". This time, Sokolov will focus his camera on the Louvre in Paris, dragging time and space back to the World War II period, exploring the core connection between art and politics under Nazi occupation. The film has been shortlisted for the Golden Lion Award at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. After four years of dormancy, the Russian film master will once again appear in the city of water with a new work. It is unknown whether he can win the award again, but this world premiere of the film is enough to attract attention from many parties. Sokolov has always been keen on shooting historical and power-themed films. Three of his representative works, "Power Quartet", involve: "Moloch" about Hitler, "Forgetting Lenin" about Lenin, and "The Sun" about Emperor Hirohito of Japan. As an art lover, Sokolov also has a special liking for museums, which are treasure troves of cultural collections. As early as 2002, his masterpiece "Russian Ark" was filmed in the St. Petersburg Hermitage Museum. This new work, "The Occupied Louvre", directly focuses on the Louvre in France, one of the four largest museums in the world, and is bound to stage a historical entanglement involving art, politics and culture.
