On the surface, Jake (Pam Grier) is an ordinary flight attendant. However, secretly, she has been using her position to help arms dealer Odell (Samuel L. Jackson) transport stolen money and make huge profits. In an accident, Jake's "business" was exposed and she was arrested. Upon learning of this, Odell sent Max (Robert Forster) to kill him. What Odell didn't expect was that Max fell madly in love with Jake. The two hit it off and planned a conspiracy to make Odell turn around, and even sent his confidants Melanie (Bridget Fonda) and Louis (Robert DeNiro) to help him.
