Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves) is the defense lawyer for 17-year-old suspect Mike Lassiter (Basso). He has to defend Mike's innocence for murdering his father, but the evidence is not good for Mike: a knife with his fingerprints and the client's near confession. More importantly, Mike has not said a word since the case happened. Ramsay can't get any information from the client. So he finds young lawyer Janelle (Mabatha-Raw) to assist him, determined to find out the exact course of events that day.
