BleeckerStreet has acquired the global distribution rights for the black comedy "The Art of Self-Defense" directed by Riley Stearns, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Imogen Poots, and Alessandro Nivola. Eisenberg plays a hapless kid who is attacked inexplicably on the street. He then joins a judo training school and learns self-defense from a very charming and mysterious master (played by Nivola), unveiling the veil of the evil world full of fraternity, violence, and hyper-masculinity. The heroine played by Poots is struggling to gain a place in the world. The film started shooting in Kentucky on Monday.
