"The Intent" is an inquiring thriller from writer-director Babak Anvari, following his award-winning debut "Under the Shadow" in 2016. In the new film, the filmmaker further examines daily life subverted by inner demons and external threats. New Orleans bartender Will (Armie Hammer) picks up someone's lost phone, which makes him fall into disturbing hallucinations; Will's relationship with his cohabiting girlfriend Carrie (Dakota Johnson) and bar regular Alicia (Zazie Beetz) falls into deeper trouble. The distorted reality leads Will to a terrifying world and he becomes extremely angry.
