Plot:
The series tells the history of the reign of the Roman Emperor Vespasian (Anthony Hopkins), who became emperor after a bloody turmoil. As Vespasian grows older, he has to face the contempt of the upper-class aristocratic elites in Rome on the one hand, and guard against their attempts to replace him on the other. The series is one of the Gladiator series of historical dramas launched by Peacock, a streaming platform owned by Comcast Corporation in the United States. The script is inspired by the historical work of the same name published by American writer and screenwriter Daniel P. Mannix in 1958. The film is co-directed by Roland Emmerich, who has directed famous films such as "Independence Day", and German director Marco Kreuzpaintner. Robert Rodat, the screenwriter of "Saving Private Ryan", is responsible for the script. It is reported that in addition to the leading actor Anthony Hopkins, actors such as Tom Hughes (playing Emperor Titus, the eldest son of Vespasian), Giorgio Macari (playing Emperor Domitian, the second son of Vespasian), Lorenzo Richelmi, Sara Martins, Dimitri Leonidas, Jabrella Paisin, Moe Hashim and others have joined the show. The show will start shooting in Rome in March 2023.
