Plot:
You are invited to witness a drunken sexual farce in the Italian countryside. A dark soapy comedy, The Decameron explores timely themes of class struggle in a time of plague. In 1348, as the Black Death ravages the city of Florence, a handful of nobles retreat to a grand villa with their servants, enjoying a luxurious vacation and waiting out the plague. But as society’s rules fade, a battle for survival ensues, led by a cast of cunning and shameless characters. The eight-episode series was created by Katherine Jordan, who drew inspiration from the 14th-century story collection The Decameron, and is produced by Jackie Cohen’s Tilted Productions. Cohen and Jordan, director Michael Uppendahl, and Tilted’s Blake McCormick and Tara Herman serve as executive producers.
