The story takes place in London at the end of the 19th century, when the study of corpses had reached its peak. Death was not the end of everything. Those whose souls dissipated but whose bodies remained forever were called "corpses", and were regarded as cheap and efficient labor. Watson (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya) is an excellent medical student. His friend Friday (voiced by Ayumu Murase) died a violent death. In pursuit of his friend's wishes before his death, Watson violated government regulations and made him into a corpse privately. Watson's move got him involved in an intelligence agency called "Walsingham". Together with Friday, they embarked on a journey to Afghanistan to find "Victor's Notes". The owner of the notes was Dr. Frankenstein. The notes recorded the method of creating a conscious corpse The One. The most likely person to have the hands is a priest named Karamazov (voiced by Shinichiro Miki).
