Plot:
In the early years of the Showa era, the great detective Katsuro Taketsugu (Mansai Nomura) returns to Tokyo on the Toyo Express, but encounters an incredible incident on the way. The rude and arrogant businessman Fujido (Kouichi Sato) is brutally murdered in his dream, and the murderer may be someone in the carriage. With clues from the scene, Katsuro interrogates the train conductor Miki (Toshiyuki Nishida), Fujido's secretary Mune (Kazuya Ninomiya), the housekeeper Masuda (Takashi Kobayashi), the noblewoman Hatori (Sumiko Fujishi), the Marquise (Mitsuko Kusabue) and her attendant Hirudegawa (Sayaka Aoki), the diplomat Ando (Hiroshi Tamaki) and his wife (Apricot), the army colonel Noto (Ichiki Sawamura), the private detective Hanesama (Sosuke Ikematsu), the car salesman Hododa (Takahiro Fujimoto), the tutor Baba (Nanako Matsushima), the church member Wu Tian (Akiko Yagi), and more than a dozen others. Everyone has a solid alibi, but everyone's testimonies are bizarre and abnormal. During this period, another case that has been ill for several years has surfaced, leading to the truth behind Fujido's murder... This film is adapted from Agatha Christie's classic original work.
