The film tells the story of a new medical director, Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold), at the historic public New Amsterdam Hospital. As long as he is determined, he will not allow others to refuse him. He has rewritten the interior of the hospital, injecting new vitality into this understaffed, underfunded and under-appreciated hospital and restoring its former glory... After all, this is a hospital that accepts everyone from the president to prisoners, and it is the only hospital that can treat the Ebola virus.
