The drama is set in the 1960s, a turbulent period in South Korea. Park Doo-chil (Song Kang-ho), known as "Uncle Sam-sik", has a vision of a country where everyone can have enough food three times a day. He meets the ambitious idealist Kim Chan (Byeon Yo-han).
