Retired detective Roy (Russell Crowe) has Alzheimer's disease and is recovering from surgery. A death row inmate who previously handled a murder case claims that he is not the murderer and asks Roy to re-investigate the case. In order to restore his memory as soon as possible, Roy begins to look through the case files of that year, finds his former partner detective, and interviews people related to the case. Lies and secrets make this old murder case complicated. Roy risks his life to track down clues, and with his gradually restored memory, he uncovers the truth of the case layer by layer, but the truth may not be something he can bear...
