Plot:
The film won various honors including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Makeup. In 1554, under the bloody rule of Mary I, Britain fell into unprecedented chaos. It was not until her death in 1558 that her half-sister Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett) ascended the throne of the queen, and the whole country was jubilant. Elizabeth was excited not only to ascend the throne, but also to end her exile and re-enter her life with her childhood sweetheart Robert Dudley (Joseph Fiennes). But the sudden palace coup, hidden conspiracy, ministers' deception, and the bad situation of the country all brought crises to the new queen. But she used her wisdom to get out of the palace coups one after another, eliminated dissidents again and again, consolidated her throne, and pushed 16th-century England from the precarious edge to the pinnacle of prosperity. But Elizabeth refused any political marriage and insisted on pursuing true love. This majestic, cold and resolute queen never married in her life and was only accompanied by the country and power for the rest of her life.
