Plot:
In the quiet primeval forest, mother bear is looking for honey with her child York. Just as the mother and child are enjoying this delicious meal, disaster strikes. Mother bear is killed by a boulder, and York is heartbroken. He has to embark on a difficult and dangerous road to survive alone. He encounters an adult grizzly bear injured by a hunter. The grizzly bear is bent on revenge against the human who hurt him, and treats York very coldly. But after a period of getting along, he and York gradually become good friends. They are tracked by hunters all the way, and they also encounter various dangers. They are looking for their own piece of world in this crisis-ridden primeval jungle... This film is adapted from the true story between humans and bears in the Rocky Mountains of the United States in 1885, and won the 1989 French César Award for Best Director, the 1990 Genesis Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the 1990 German Art Academy Film Association Film Award Silver Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and the 1988 French Film Academy Award.
