The story takes place in 1990, when everyone was investing in stocks. The little boy Liao Jie (played by Bai Runyin) and his father Liao Tailai (played by Liu Guanting) depend on each other for survival. They believe that human nature is good and do not realize that the world is changing. The stock market soared and prices doubled. Some people became rich overnight, while others realized that reality was cruel. The simple and honest Liao Jie and his son belonged to the latter.
