Miyako Arata, who works at the Shinjuku Ward Office, should have been an ordinary civil servant, but he was assigned to work in the "Nighttime Area Communication Section" which is unknown in any of the 23 wards of Tokyo. His job is to solve supernatural incidents caused by various monsters. Together with his senior and section chief Sakaki Kyoichi, and Himezuka Seio, who is a fanatical enthusiast of supernatural phenomena, he works day and night to get along with beings that transcend human common sense.
