Plot:
When 24-year-old Shanann Gilbert mysteriously disappears one night, her mother Mary (Academy Award-nominated Amy Ryan) embarks on an uncharted journey that confronts her daughter, herself, and police bias. Determined to find her daughter at all costs, Mary Gilbert searches for Shanann’s last known footprint and begins her investigation in a gated community near Long Island’s desolate Outer Banks. Her findings force law enforcement and the media to uncover more than a dozen unsolved murders of sex workers, young lives that Mary will not let the world forget. Based on the bestselling nonfiction book of the same name by Robert Kolker, Missing Girls is produced by ArcherGray’s Anne Carey (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, 20th Century Women), directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated Liz Garbus (The Fourth Estate, Nina Simone: Soul of a Diva), and co-stars Thomasin McKenzie, Gabriel Byrne, and Lola Kirke.
