Plot:
The old grandfather (voiced by Takeo Chii) who lives in the deep mountains and forests went into the mountains to cut bamboo early in the morning, and found a palm-sized doll in a nearby glowing bamboo shoot. The childless grandfather was very excited. He returned home with the doll in both hands, and the little guy actually grew bigger and bigger in the hands of the old grandmother (voiced by Nobuko Miyamoto). In the years that followed, the loving grandfather carefully cared for his princess (voiced by Aki Asakura), and the little girl grew at an alarming rate. She traveled around the countryside with the children in the village and met the honest and reliable brother Shemaru (played by Kengo Kora), but an inexplicable song made her cry. The old grandfather found gold and beautiful cloth in the mountains one after another. He was determined to let the princess live a noble life, so he moved his family to a mansion in the capital. The princess was extraordinary and beautiful, and since then the name "Huiyaoji" has been widely praised among the nobles in the capital. However, the beautiful girl's smile gradually faded, and this did not seem to be the life she longed for... This film is adapted from the story of the Japanese folk tale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter".
