Plot:
This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by American writer Walter Kenn. Ryan Bullingham (George Clooney) works for a company in Omaha, Nebraska, that provides layoff services to other companies. He travels around the country to lay off people for more than 300 days a year, almost using the airport as his home. During a routine layoff trip, Ryan met a business beauty, Alex (Vera Farmiga). The two fell in love at first sight, but both were satisfied with maintaining a casual sexual partner relationship. At the same time, Natalie (Anna Kendrick), a college student newcomer to Ryan's company, was favored by the company's president and tried her best to promote the reform of remote layoffs through online video conferencing. Ryan was against change, but had to take Natalie to internships to familiarize herself with the business...The film was nominated for six Oscars including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Actor (George Clooney), Best Supporting Actress (Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick) and Best Adapted Screenplay, six Golden Globe nominations including Best Director and Best Picture, and won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Best Screenplay Award.
