Plot:
This film is adapted from the essay collection "Interesting Antarctic Cooks" written by Jun Nishimura, who was a chef of the Japanese Antarctic Observation Team, based on his own experience. Jun Nishimura (Masato Sakai), who was originally a seaman chef, was sent to the Antarctic Dome Fuji Base in the ice and snow to serve as a chef for seven expedition members. His wife (Naomi Nishida) had to raise her 8-year-old daughter and her newborn son alone. In the icy and snowy Antarctic cold land, eating is the greatest pleasure in the boring lives of the seven members of the expedition team - glaciology assistant Kawamura Yasushi (Kengo Kora), meteorologist Hirabayashi Masahiko (Masahiro Obama), correspondent Nishihira Ryo (Daisuke Kuroda), doctor Fukuda Masashi (Isaburo Toyohara), meteorologist and captain Kaneda Hiroshi (Yasuhiro Furuzeki), pilot Mikoshiba Ken (Kanji Furudate) and glaciologist Motoyama Hideyuki (Katsuhisa Namase). Jun Nishimura tried his best to cook a variety of delicious dishes, and around eating, the eight lonely men also performed countless hilarious life stories. The film won the Best Actor Award (Masato Sakai) at the Yokohama Film Festival in Japan.
