Plot:
(by Gorgeous to the point of being gorgeous) Showtime's historical drama "The Tudors" is more about a paranoid and wife-killing romance than a history of the rise and fall of a prominent dynasty. "Times" once published an article saying, "If there were gossip tabloids in the 16th century, Henry VIII would have been on the cover of every issue." Indeed, this talented and greedy British king married six wives in his life, leaving countless controversies in history. In the first two seasons, because Queen Catherine only gave birth to a daughter, Mary, Henry VIII, who had no heirs to the throne, stopped favoring her and fell in love with his maid Anne Boleyn. Anne, who was scheming, was unwilling to be the king's lover, so she deposed Catherine and recognized Anne's identity. Henry VIII launched a decade-long confrontation with the Roman Catholic Church. In the end, he even announced his separation from the Roman Catholic Church and proclaimed himself the supreme leader of the Church of England. However, Anne only gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth. Henry VIII soon fell in love with another woman and sent Anne to the guillotine for adultery. In the third season, the focus of the plot is still Henry VIII's love story. He will successively marry Jane Seymour, a maid he called "the true love of this life", Anne of Cleves and Catherine Howard. At the same time, the royal family's religious policy triggered the famous "Pilgrimage of Grace" incident among the people, and Henry VIII ordered a bloody suppression of it. Since the first broadcast, there have been countless lingering and erotic scenes in the play, as well as intrigues in the court, but it is said that more than 85% of the plot is based on historical records, proving that the script written by the old man of history is not inferior to any Hollywood screenwriter. While the plot restores history for the audience, the beautiful Irish pastoral scenery, as well as the gorgeous court settings and costumes captured by the camera are also one of the highlights of this film.
