Plot:
This drama is adapted from the Douban Reading serial novel "She and Her Islands", written by Yi Nan. The resolute head of the family Qiao Haiyun (Song Chunli) once set a rule that everyone must go home for the New Year. No one has ever broken the rule until the most honest third-generation Li Yijin (Ma Sichun) suddenly broke the tradition and went to her boyfriend's house for the New Year, causing family conflicts. Qiao Haiyun has three daughters. The eldest, Meng Mingwei (played by Xu Fan), is not her biological daughter. She has a lame body and low self-esteem, so she wants her daughter to become a phoenix. She has a very tense relationship with her daughter Li Yijin, but in the end they understand each other's difficulties and finally understand that keeping a proper distance is the best way to maintain the mother-daughter relationship; the second, Meng Wanqing (played by Liang Jing) and the daughter of the top student Tao Shuna (played by Sun Qian) are perfect mother and daughter, but the two who talk about everything accidentally discover each other's secrets. The process of getting to know each other again is also getting to know themselves again. The two finally understand that the perfect mother-daughter relationship is not to cover up shortcomings but to support each other; the third, Meng Yian (played by Li Xiaoran), is most like Qiao Haiyun, strong and independent. She doesn't want to become a strong woman like her mother, but by chance she and her mother take the same path. The difficulty of balancing career and family makes her gradually understand her mother back then. The three generations of women in the Meng family are like an archipelago. Although they are far away from each other, they support each other and coexist.
