The story is set in the near future, in the humanoid robot colony of Area 414, where private detective David Carmichael (Pierce) is hired by Marlon Vetter (Fimmel), a tycoon obsessed with the business world, to find the latter's rebellious daughter. Carmichael needs to work closely with a highly intelligent robot (Lutz), and in the process, the crimes of Area 414 and the origin of "Robot City" also surfaced.
