Chrissy Metz (This Is Us, American Horror Story) will star in the new film The Impossible, produced by Fox 2000. Based on Joyce Smith's autobiography The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother's Fait and Her Child's Resurrection, it tells an unusual true story: Joyce's 14-year-old son John fell into a glacier in Missouri one winter and was declared dead. Through Joyce's prayers and faith, John's heart started beating again one hour later. 16 days later, John walked out of the hospital without external help and fully recovered. Roseanne Dawson (The Americans, House of Cards) directed the film, Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) adapted the script, and filming began in Winnipeg in March.
