The plot is based on the original novel, with some sci-fi adaptations. The darkness and chaos in the original novel became the sunspot explosion, and the birth of a stone monkey became the fall and deification of three meteorites. The only way to defeat the demon is to have a person born on a certain day, month, year, hour, moment, minute, and second, and be escorted by the incarnation of one of the meteorites to the West to obtain the Tripitaka Sutra.
