Plot:
In the 1970s, Tong Lin, who had been a bachelor due to his muteness, picked up a baby girl at his doorstep. Although he could not speak, he was kind-hearted and adopted the baby girl and named her "Amei". Because of Amei, Tong Lin was squeezed by his sister Tong Yan, who had returned to the city from the countryside and had no job. He gave up his job and house, took Amei to rent a house, and made a living by collecting rags, raising Amei alone with his meager income. The happiest time of the father and daughter every day was when Tong Lin played the old musical instruments he collected for Amei. Amei always danced with excitement, which was also the happiest moment for Tong Lin. During the high school entrance examination, the teacher persuaded Amei to apply for the music school, but because of the high tuition fees, Amei could not bear to add more burden to her father and refused the teacher; after Tong Lin learned about it, he was thinking about Amei's future and signed up for Amei, and secretly took on a few more jobs. When Ah Mei achieved great success, Tong Lin was diagnosed with cancer due to years of hard work. With deep gratitude, Ah Mei sang "The Wine Is Gone" for her father Tong Lin.
