Plot:
When William Wallace was a child, his father, Scottish national hero Marceau Wallace, died in the struggle against the British army. He began to accept the guidance of his father's friend and learn Scottish culture and martial arts. Young Wallace (Mel Gibson) returned to his hometown after completing his studies and proposed to the beautiful girl Mellen, but Mellen was kidnapped and killed by the British army. Amid the call of the villagers for "the hero's descendant", Wallace led the people to revolt and formed an alliance with the Scottish noble Robert, but soon he found that the Scottish nobles only considered their own interests. In order to ease the situation, the King of England sent Isabella (Sophie Marceau) to negotiate with Wallace. Because the King of England only wanted to bribe Wallace and did not care about the freedom and equality of the Scottish people, the negotiations failed, but Isabella did not know all this. After returning home, Isabella discovered the truth of the matter and knew that the King of England was planning a sinister trick. She hurriedly sent a letter to Wallace, and their love quietly grew in the war and conspiracy.
