Plot:
"Flower War" is set in ancient Korea. It tells the history of women's suffering under the cruel feudal system and provides a picture of the customs of ancient Korean society with a comprehensive description. The life of the heroine Ji Li in the film can be roughly divided into four historical stages: the daughter of a declining official family, a young widow, a maid in an official family, and the official's wife. But no matter which identity, the tragic fate is always the same. The cruel oppression of Ji Li by feudal society is mainly reflected in the destruction of her body. In traditional feudal society, Confucianism puts the big hat of "chastity" on women's heads, leaving them no room for turning over. Their spirits and bodies are completely controlled, and when they get out of this control, they will face the threat of death. Ji Li's sexual freedom is mainly reflected in the period when she served as the wife of a long-term worker at the bottom of society. When she re-entered the official family, her body was destroyed again, and she was even killed by her once beloved husband. "Flower War" uses a meticulous story and strong color impact to create the tragic life of the heroine, and denounces the Confucian dregs that oppress women's spiritual and physical freedom. The critical spirit of the film is still remarkable today and has a strong guiding significance. (BD)
