In a gorgeous villa in the suburbs, middle-aged plastic surgeon Robert Redgar (Antonio Banderas) and his loyal old servant Marilia (Marisa Paredes) live here. In the past twelve years, he has lost his wife Gail and daughter Norma (Ana Mena). One tragedy after another has completely overturned Robert's seemingly perfect life, and also pushed his career and research into a completely unknown field. In a mysterious room in the villa, there lives a beautiful and isolated woman named Vera (Elena Anaya). She is both Robert's patient and his experimental subject.
