The series centers on Joshua "J" Cody, a 17-year-old boy played by Finn Cole. It takes place in a small seaside town in Southern California and tells the story of Joshua living with his grandmother (played by Ellen Barkin) and uncle after his mother died of a drug overdose. He has to deal with the family's indulgence and chaotic ways, and soon discovers that his uncle's family is actually a member of a criminal group.
