Plot:
Director Wang Zhun went to the set of the famous actress Gao Li. Although he and Gao Li had separated, Wang Zhun still hoped that Gao Li would confirm the schedule for his new film as soon as possible. Gao Li, in turn, ridiculed Wang Zhun for not having a script in sight. Under the pressure of reality, Wang Zhun, Ding Hongmin, Bai Jinbo and Du Chun, a group of four people, came to the mountains of Hubei to collect materials for the filming of a feature film about the local funeral song "The Legend of Darkness". Ding Hongmin is the producer of this film. She brought the young actor Bai Jinbo with her. Du Chun is a junior student at the Film Academy and a fan of Wang Zhun. Despite the local guide Lao Luo leading the team, the four still got lost in the mountains. The difficulties of travel and living made the four people suffer psychologically, and their close relationships changed, causing them to gradually blur the purpose of this trip. The encounters in the mountains and forests echoed the reality of Shanghai like a dream, and Wang Zhun's inner darkness and confusion were also revealed. They met the simple mountain people and the persistent village woman Chuntai in the storm, and finally heard the old singer singing the funeral song "The Legend of Darkness" at the funeral. The next day, Wang Zhun woke up in the valley in the early morning, which seemed to be the light he had been pursuing.
