Plot:
David (Ben Kingsley), who is over 60 years old, is a well-known local cultural commentator. His talkativeness on TV shows makes him charming. As a university professor, he never messes with female students before grading class assignments to avoid being accused of sexual harassment. David is self-righteous in his feelings, and his best friend in life today is a female student 20 years ago. However, things have changed since he met 24-year-old Consuela (Penélope Cruz). He loves the meaning of her youth and body, and she is like a perfect body in a painting. But he can't believe that he can have her forever, and he thinks there will always be younger and better men to take her away. So every time Consuela invites him to meet her relatives and friends, David always refuses and refuses to enter her life. When Consuela expressed her great hope that he would attend her graduation ceremony, David agreed, but the last-minute retreat made Consuela heartbroken. She left for two years. In the past two years, David has faced the sadness of a close friend and the death of an old friend. When Consuela reappears in his life, she brings an even more unexpected news. Adapted from Philip Roth's (US) novel "The Dying Body".
