The young girl Mei Ruohua was living on the streets, and was accepted as an apprentice by Huang Yaoshi, renamed Mei Chaofeng, and grew up with her fellow apprentices on Peach Blossom Island practicing martial arts. Huang Yaoshi found that Mei Chaofeng's feelings for him had gone beyond the relationship between master and apprentice, so he left the island on an excuse and brought back his wife Feng Heng and half of the Nine Yin Manual two years later.
