At 6 a.m. on June 6, the newborn son of American diplomat Robert Schon (Liev Schreiber) died. Under the advice of Father Speidel (Giovanni Lombardo Radice), he adopted a baby whose mother died shortly after birth and named him Deming. Deming (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick) grew up healthily in Robert's home and never got sick. In contrast, all kinds of strange things kept happening around him.
