The drama is adapted from the popular manga of the same name by the famous manga artist Hideo Iura, "Criminal Yugami" (serialized in Shogakukan's "Big Comic Original" [Youth Half-Monthly]). Asano Tadanobu plays Yugami Shigetsu, a detective with unique reasoning and observation skills, who has no preconceived notions, uses a keen eye to see the dark side of human nature, and even resorts to illegal means to pursue the truth; Kamiki Ryunosuke plays the rookie detective Hanyu Torao, who has excellent grades, is honest and serious, and has a strong sense of justice. In the play, Hanyu is ordered around by Yugami, and the two very different partners will work together to solve various difficult cases. The drama is presented in the form of one episode per case, and different luxurious actors will join each episode.
