Plot:
In Fuzhou in the early Republic of China, Lu Yaqing was sold to a casino by her cousin Zhao Tianlai, and then moved to a restaurant, where she met Tong Shaowei, the son of the Tong family. With the help of Shaowei and his childhood sweetheart Wang Changrong, Yaqing was able to clear her name. Shaowei married Yaqing despite Tong's mother's obstruction. Butler Yang Kaitai colluded with Li Nianzhen, Shaowei's betrothal partner, to harm Yaqing. Tong's mother believed the slander and drove the mother and daughter out of the Tong mansion after Yaqing gave birth to a daughter. Shaowei then married Nianzhen, who was pregnant with Yang Kaitai's child. Yaqing was taken in by Aunt Zhao and found out that she was pregnant with Shaowei's child again. Nianzhen gave birth to a daughter, and Yang Kaitai sent people to hunt down Yaqing for his daughter's status. Yaqing fled to Xiamen for refuge and hid there for five years. Changrong met Yaqing in Xiamen after he became rich. When the two returned to Fuzhou, they found that Kaitai had seized the Tong family's property and drove away Tong's mother and son. Yaqing put aside her past grudges, took care of Shaowei and Tong's mother, and began to fight against Kaitai. Nianzhen found her conscience and handed over the evidence of Kaitai's crime. Kaitai was executed. Yaqing helped the Tong family regain their property and status, and repaid Shaowei's kindness without regrets. Finally, with the blessing of Tong's mother, she officially became Shaowei's wife.
