Scott Frank, the creator of The Queen's Gambit, and Tom Fontana, the operator of On the Hill, have created a new series, Monsieur Spade, with the former directing all episodes. The series will be mainly in French and filmed in France. The protagonist is Sam Spade, the detective from The Maltese Falcon, played by Clive Owen. In the story of this series, Spade lives his retired life quietly in the small town of Beaujour in southern France. It is 1963, and the Algerian War has just ended, but in a short time, Spade's quiet life will also end.
