Plot:
BBC One and HBO co-produced 8-episode drama Gentleman Jack (formerly Shibden Hall), directed by Sally Wainwright, is scheduled to premiere on April 22, US time, while the UK will air it later. Gentleman Jack is based on the real-life character Anne Lister. In Halifax in 1832, Anne Lister (Suranne Jones), known as Gentleman Jack by the locals, was a wealthy landowner, a diarist, a traveler, and a person who knew and lived as a lesbian, known as "The first modern lesbian". The drama will describe her relationship with her family, servants, tenants, business rivals, and her lesbian Ann Walker.
