Plot:
In 1866, Japan was in a turbulent era. Internally, Satsuma and Choshu jointly launched a movement to overthrow the shogunate, and externally, there was a threat from Western powers led by the United States. Genji (played by Izumiya Shigeru), a poor farmer in Uehara, accidentally fell into the water while transporting goods. He was rescued by an American ship and taken to the United States. He returned to Japan six years later. He looked for his wife (played by Momoi Kaoru) everywhere, only to find that his wife had been sold to a brothel by her seriously ill father and even became a stripper. After a lot of twists and turns, the couple finally recognized each other. Genji, who was originally full of expectations for life, could only work hard to find a way to make a living in the market every day. Soon, Kinzo (played by Shigeru Rokuchi), who was attached to Satsuma, incited the people to riot. Genji, who longed for peace, planned to go to the United States with his wife, but his wife could not abandon her homeland, so the two had to continue to stay in the turbulent Edo Japan...
