Plot:
Robert Thorogood, the creator of "The Mystery of Paradise Island", has released stills for the all-female detective TV series "The Marlow Murder Club" for PBS Masterpiece and UKTV, and confirmed that the series will be broadcast next year. The original book was published in 2021. The story revolves around the protagonist played by Samantha, a retired archaeologist "Judith" (played by Samantha Bond, "Lady Rosamund" in "Downton Abbey"); she lives alone in a vintage mansion in the quiet town of Marlow, passing the time by doing crossword puzzles for local newspapers. One day, when "Judith" was swimming in the wild in the Thames as usual, she heard gunshots from her neighbor's garden and was convinced that a brutal murder had occurred. When the police won’t believe her story, Judith finds herself forming an unlikely friendship with local dog walker/empty nester “Suzie” (Jo Martin, “Ruth” from Doctor Who) and frustrated pastor’s wife “Becks” (Cara Horgan, “Zelda” from The Sandman), and the trio begins their own investigation. Eventually, the gang is asked to assist in a police investigation led by a fresh-faced “Tanika” (Natalie Dew, “Aliza” from The Catch). Judith and her friends must piece together clues, question suspects (witnesses), and face real danger as they race against time to track down and stop the killer.
