Plot:
A love story soaked in bright red and pure white, written in a notebook sprinkled with dim yellow, is told over and over again by an old man (James Garner). The old lady (Gena Rowlands) always listens quietly and curiously asks the result. In a nursing home, such an unchanging scene is played every day. In the notebook, the beautiful handwriting records the love that happened that summer. Ellie (Rachel McAdams) is the daughter of a wealthy family. She came to the town with her family to escape the summer heat. In a dreamy playground, she met Noah (Ryan Gosling). Noah has no money, but lives happily. Ellie learned freedom and laughter from him, and the two soon fell in love. However, under the obstruction of Ellie's parents, the two people in love were separated at the end of summer. With Noah's 365 letters secretly hidden, Ellie finally gave up waiting after 7 years. Just the day before she was about to enter the church, she suddenly saw the white house that Noah had promised to build for her in the newspaper. All memories are awakened... Perhaps, what should be awakened is not the people in the story, but the people who listen to the story.
