Plot:
The series is based on the third season of the Wondery podcast of the same name, focusing on Italian thoracic surgeon and former regenerative medicine researcher Paolo Macchiarini, who is known for his research into fraud and manipulation. Macchiarini is considered a pioneer in the use of biological and synthetic scaffolds implanted with the patient's own stem cells as tracheal transplants. He was accused of unethical experimental surgery, which resulted in the death of seven of the eight patients who received his synthetic trachea transplants. Patrick MacManus, the showrunner of the first season, served as executive producer, and writer Ashley Michelle Hoban took over the operation. The plot is described as: Macchiarini is a charming surgeon known for his innovative surgeries, which earned him the nickname "Miracle Man". When investigative reporter Benita Alexander approaches him for a report, the line between personal life and work begins to blur, changing her life forever. As she learns how Paul will protect his secrets, a group of doctors on the other side of the world make a shocking discovery that calls everything about "Miracle Man" into question.
