The Monkey King (Stephen Chow) is brought back to five hundred years ago by the Moonlight Box, where he meets the Fairy Zixia (Athena Chu), who marks him as her person, and he finds that he has become the Monkey King. Zixia and Qingxia (Athena Chu) were originally the wicks of the Sun and Moon Lamp in front of the Buddha's seat (Zixia during the day and Qingxia at night). Although they share the same body, they have a deep hatred for each other, so Zixia vows that whoever can pull out the Purple and Green Sword in her hand will be her lover. The Purple and Green Sword is accidentally pulled out by the Monkey King, and Zixia decides to marry him, but the Monkey King, who is obsessed with Bai Jingjing (Mo Wenwei), refuses. Later, the Bull Demon King rescues Zixia who is lost in the desert and forces her to marry him. At the critical moment, the Monkey King appears.
