Plot:
Hidden in the vast winter snow of Asia Minor is a desolate place with no end in sight. Primary school teacher Sami compares himself to a withered grass and has been looking forward to being transferred back to a school in the city. However, one day a love letter written to him by a student hidden in a notebook was discovered, leading to accusations that he sexually harassed the student. The disillusionment of his dreams, the deterioration of friendship among his classmates, and the whispers among other faculty members brought Sami to the brink of collapse. Until he met a female teacher who helped him overcome the difficulties, this desperate winter changed. Turkish film master Nuri Bilge Ceylan brought a new work after four years, using the pain and redemption between people to reflect on himself and warn the world. The ideological debate on the group and the individual, struggle and compromise at the dining table is even more amazing. The heroine won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for this film, becoming the first Turkish Cannes actress in history.
